Idea: The Blueprint to Your Million-Dollar Job Board
Eric Turner is the founder of Japan.dev
And he has made $60,000 in one month. This revenue number is from 2022.
By now he is probably making more than $100,000 per month.
Guess how many employees he has? Zero!
Yes, that’s correct, he has 0 employees. He and his wife manage this business.
The domain was registered in March 2019 and after Covid he started seeing traction for this business.
The best part, is that target audience is very small: English-speaking tech workers who want to live and work in Japan.
Japan Dev is a hyper-niche, bootstrapped business.
It has no employees — just my wife and me.
It's earned $60,590 so far this month.
( ¥8.28 million yen )

How to Create a Successful Job Board in India?
Now it’s time to see how you can build the same in India. This is going to be a concise guide and I won’t go into full details, but the point is to show you how easy it is to build a job board.
The difficult part is to stay consistent as you can see it takes 5-10 years to get to the above level. Within first 2-3 years you will start making good money, but to get to millions it’s a whole another game.
Before I show you how you can start a niche job board in India, I would like to share a very inspiring success story – The Story of HerKey (Formerly Jobsforher)
Neha Bagaria, founder and CEO HerKey (formerly JobsForHer), founded the company after taking a 3.6-year break in her own career when she had her children.
Prior to her career break, she worked at Kemwell, a biopharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Bangalore, where she was involved in the fields of HR, Finance and Marketing strategy for their facilities in India, Sweden and the US.
HerKey's vision was crystal clear from the very beginning. Neha wanted to help women who have been on a career break due to marriage, motherhood, or some other reason and create a returning program to bring momentum in their professional journey.
Today, with an impressive turnover of Rs 8.87 crore, HerKey has made its mark in the Indian business landscape.
But the beginning was difficult for Neha. She started jobsforher with six women, all restarters, working out of Church Street Social. It’s a Bengaluru eatery that encourages young businesses to work on its premises for a small fee (Bagaria paid ₹5,000 per person every month, which was redeemable against food and drinks).
To read her full story you can visit this link.
The point of this story is, she saw a gap in the market, she started a job board and is now making crores from her venture. That is what this newsletter is about, filling gaps in the market with new ideas.
Also, just to give you a little boost of inspiration, I recently saw this news:
From this you can figure out the amount of wealth she made from her job board.
So, let’s identify the gap in the market and see where you can build the next successful niche job boards:
Healthcare Jobs
Hospitality Industry Jobs
Virtual Reality Jobs
Renewable Energy Jobs
Space Industry Jobs
Cybersecurity Jobs
AI Industry Jobs
Gaming Industry Jobs
Fintech Jobs
My personal favorite: Jobs in AI industry or Renewable Energy Jobs
Google Trends also supports this theory:
Right now, this is just the beginning and as we move forward, I expect most of the jobs will require AI expertise of some kind.
There are already global job boards related to AI jobs:
In India the demand for AI jobs is rising day by day. Here is headline of News from March 2023: AI boom in India offers 45,000 job openings with salary upto 45 lakh – Souce: Livemint
If you check LinkedIn you will see that there are 1,500 active AI jobs in India.
Artificial Intelligence related jobs trends data (October 2023- January 2024):

I can share more and more data, but the fact remains the same. You can create a niche job board in the AI job industry, and I am sure you will be successful in the coming years.
You don’t have to build a job board in a broad industry like AI jobs, instead you can build something like: AI remote jobs, AI jobs in other countries where Indians can apply, etc.
Building a job board is very easy, here are your options:
Some YouTube videos to help you out:
Everything is great, but how to marker your job board?

It was flagged for self-promotion after 3-4 days, but till that the posts has done its work.
You can follow the founder of the Job Boars Search on Twitter as he posts a lot of interesting insights: https://twitter.com/rrmdp
Corey Haines launched a marketing job board and talks about how he gained initial traction in this post.
He tweeted about his launch and it went really good as a total of 700 plus users visited his website from that tweet:
Then next day, he launched his job board on ProductHunt which again brought him some additional users:
Don’t expect to go viral from your first few posts, as I said earlier you need to be consistent. Creating a job board is easy, but staying consistent with your idea for more than 12-24 months is hard.
You need to pivot and you need to be really vocal about your startup in order to gain traction and become successful. If you need any further guidance or have questions, feel free to reach out. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
