A New Home for Our Newsletter!
Hello Moneymint fans,
Welcome to all the new members who've joined us this week!
Big Announcement:
We have an important update. Unfortunately, we need to switch the platform we use to send out our newsletters. To continue receiving them, please save this email address in your contacts: [email protected].
Here is how you can save the above email address as a contact:
Or simply, you can just send a quick “Hey Aditya” to the email address above.
You will start receiving the newsletter from the new email beginning this Wednesday, August 14th, 2024.
The reason for this change is simple: our old platform started charging $149 per month (12,000 rupees per month), which is too much since our newsletter is free. I don’t make any money from sending these out, so I had to find a more affordable option. That’s why we’re moving to Substack.
I know this isn’t ideal, but please bear with me — I’m committed to continuing to write for you and sharing new and exciting ways to earn money.
Boring Quiz Site Making 13 Crores Per Year
JetPunk, a boring quiz site started by brothers John and Daniel Hostetler back in March 2008 🚀
It gets 2 million page views per day! Estimated revenue is 13,43,21,680 (13 crores per year).
The website is monetize via display ads and premium membership.
According to Wikipedia…
JetPunk is an online trivia and quizzing website. The service offers a variety of quizzes in different topics, such as geography, history, science, literature, and music. The site offers quizzes in a variety of languages, including but not limited to: English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, German, Finnish, Portuguese, and Polish.
When it was first established, the website was originally a travel agency-like website and its purpose was to search for airline flights, and afterwards the creators added a search feature for hotels.
By September 2008, the website began to display quizzes, beginning with a quiz that required one to name all 196 countries of the world. By the end of the year, the quizzes began branching out into other genres. In 2009, the website's design had changed, and JetPunk had its first major change in the beginning of 2011 when it allowed users to create their own quizzes.
The quizzes became the primary feature and the JetPunk fish was introduced as the website's logo. The number of quizzes taken grew steadily, eventually reaching 5 million pageviews in 2012.
$12,000 Per Month Editing Shorts
Meet Erick Ulrich who is an 18-year-old boy from southern Brazil - imagine like farms, lots of forest, and nothing to do lol.
In a recent interview, he says…
Our monthly recurring revenue is around $12,000
His business is called Conect (With one N) and they connect content creators with resources that will make them multiply their views (specially on Instagram) so they can build their brands and sell more.
Erick's journey began in 2022 when he was working under a demanding boss at another agency.
Fed up with the mistreatment, Erick and his partner Gustavo decided to start their own business, focusing on creating viral video content for clients.
Starting with just a $5 domain and some cold DMs, Conect quickly grew to $12,000 in monthly revenue within just a few months! Their secret? Developing a science-based approach to video editing that maximizes views and engagement.
How did Eric got his first initial customers?
What worked: Cold-Dm a list on instagram / Asking for referals / Google ads
What didn't work: Content, paid FB/IG ads, FB groups, and reddit advertising
With the "worked" methods, they went from 0 to 20 active clients in 3 months which made them around $16,000 (in that 3rd month) - now they have around 35 clients, half of which are active.
But it wasn't all smooth sailing. In September, revenue dropped to $3,000, leaving Erick scared but determined. He's now scaling up cold outreach, exploring new marketing channels, and introducing innovative products like AI voice cloning and viral video scripts.
Despite the challenges, Erick's passion for helping creators succeed shines through. His goal is to reach $100,000 in monthly revenue by next April, and with his drive and expertise, we have no doubt he'll get there! 🚀
Here's how you can start your own video editing agency, inspired by the story above:
Identify your niche: Decide what type of video content you want to specialize in (e.g., viral videos, YouTube content, social media videos).
Develop your skills: Master video editing software like Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve through online courses or self-learning.
Create a portfolio: Showcase your best work to attract potential clients. Consider offering free services initially to build your portfolio.
Set up your business: Register your company, obtain necessary licenses, and invest in essential equipment like computers and editing software.
Determine your pricing: Research the market and set competitive rates for your services. Consider offering package deals or retainer-based pricing.
Find clients: Reach out to potential clients through cold emails, social media, or networking. Target businesses, freelancers, marketing agencies, and influencers.
Deliver quality work: Provide exceptional service to your clients to build a strong reputation and encourage referrals.
Scale your business: As you grow, hire skilled editors to take on more projects and expand your client base.
Continuously improve: Stay updated with the latest trends, techniques, and software in video editing to stay ahead of the competition.
Remember, starting a video editing agency requires hard work, dedication, and a passion for creating engaging video content.
