Your Ideas, Our Newsletter: Be a Part of Something Big

Share Your Opinion and Get Exciting Rewards.

Hello Moneymint fans,

Welcome to all the new members who've joined us this week!

Today's edition is all about getting your ideas. In the last edition, most of you voted to receive this newsletter daily. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, it's practically impossible for me to send it out daily and keep the quality high.

Instead, I'll start by increasing the frequency to twice a week. If you like this change, we can consider increasing it further.

Now, the important question: what do you want to gain from this newsletter? I have several options, and your input will shape future editions.

What's in it for you? I'll randomly select three subscribers who answer the poll. They will win a book of their choice, Amazon gift cards, and a one-on-one session with me.

Your answers will shape the future of this newsletter, so let’s make it awesome together!

$500k content marketing business that costs its founder $500 a month

This week, I am excited to share the story of Jimmy Daly, the solo founder who has grown his content marketing community to an impressive $500,000 annual run rate, all while keeping his software costs under $500 per month. Let's dive in and discover how he did it!

Meet Jimmy Daly and Superpath

Jimmy Daly, a seasoned content marketer, started Superpath as a Slack community three years ago to connect content marketers in a more private space than Twitter. Little did he know, this side project would lead him to start a business, secure an investor, and go full-time.

Four Lines of Business, Powered by No-Code Tools:

Superpath has evolved into a thriving community with four main revenue streams:

  • A job board where companies pay to reach the community and newsletter subscribers

  • A paid membership offering courses, office hours, and networking opportunities

  • Sponsorships for ad space in the newsletter and Slack community

  • A marketplace connecting companies with vetted content creators

The best part? Jimmy has built the entire business using no-code tools like Zapier, Airtable, and Squarespace, keeping his software costs minimal.

With 7,000 members in the Slack community, Jimmy leverages tools like Airtable, Zapier, and Campfire to automate processes such as posting anonymous career advice questions, sharing job listings, and sending onboarding messages.

The Superpath marketplace, which generates $40,000 in monthly recurring revenue, runs entirely on Airtable. A series of Zaps automate tasks like assigning articles, sending briefs to freelancers, and reminding writers to submit invoices.

Jimmy's journey demonstrates the power of building an audience before launching a business. His reputation and following in the content marketing world helped Superpath gain traction quickly.

By finding the right investor who aligned with his values and vision for a sustainable, profitable business, Jimmy has been able to focus on nurturing and growing Superpath's four lines of business.

Overcoming Challenges and Looking Ahead

Like any startup, Superpath faces obstacles such as customer acquisition, pricing, and lead generation. However, with a projected $500,000 in revenue this year and minimal software costs, the future looks bright for this no-code-powered content marketing community.

Jimmy's advice for aspiring entrepreneurs? Start building your audience now, whether you're just thinking about starting a business or already in the thick of it.

We hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into Jimmy Daly's inspiring journey with Superpath. Stay tuned for more stories of innovative founders.

Meet Puru Singh Founder - PUSH SPORTS

This entrepreneur took the wicket of Yuvraj Singh but had to leave cricket due to family responsibilities.

In a country where grassroots coaches seldom receive the respect and compensation they deserve.

Puru Singh is empowering them to lead and inspire with his startup: Push Sports.

Push Sports is a comprehensive sports education and infrastructure company founded by Puru along with Nitin Pahuja in 2016.

Their Mission: Mainstreaming sports education.

Their Offering: World-Class Sports Arenas, Structured coaching programs (80+ coaches), School tie-ups with curriculum design.

For more context let’s go back in time: Puru Singh used to play for Delhi in his college days and was the highest wicket taker in the North Zone.

But, family responsibilities and lack of guidance forced him to leave his passion.

He joined the aviation industry but his love for sports made him quit his fancy job as a cabin crew at 33.

He started handling operations in major sports management companies. This gave him coaching experience as well.

Later he became a fulltime coach, even leading DDCA as head coach in 2019.

But, he realized that the lack of mentoring and guidance is still present in our indian sports industry.

This made him quit everything and start something of his own.

In 2016, he met Nitin Pahuja, Senior VP in Yes Bank. They finally started Push Sports in 2018.

The startup's core area is sports coaching, which has three main verticals:

  • In-school (For only school students): 7AM to 2PM

  • After-school sports (Both In school and outside for professional coaching): 2PM to 7PM

  • Pay to play (Corporates and individuals can book on per hr basis): After 7PM

Puru was once asked by an interviewer about the worrying state of sports coaches in India.

He said, “We pay our coaches among the best in the business. Coaches who started with just Rs.6,000 are now earning Rs.50,000–60,000 in just 5–6 years."

Push Sports founders raised Rs.2.20 crore in strategic funding in November 2022. It also secured a significant investment of Rs.80 lakh in exchange for 4% equity, led by Peyush Bansal and Vineeta Singh in Shark Tank S3.

The team is very positive that they will have a neutral EBITDA this year.

Puru Singh's vision: Create "India's New Playground" by redefining sports education and participation in the country.
