G20 Guests to Feast in 'Bharat' Style
Sanskrit Swing: India Becomes Bharat on G20 Dinner Invitations!
Good Morning ☕
Picture this: guests attending this week's Group of 20 summit will no longer find the word "India" gracing their event invitations. Instead, they'll be receiving an invitation to the land of "Bharat." Yes, you read that right! Modi's government has embarked on a linguistic journey to replace the colonial-era moniker "India" with the resplendent Sanskrit gem, "Bharat."
This move isn't just about a name change; it's about a whole new level of naming enthusiasm. Modi's Hindu nationalist party is on a mission to sweep away the vestiges of the past and usher in an era where "Bharat" shines as the radiant identity of the nation. It's a linguistic makeover with a side of cultural nationalism.
Important News of the Day
1. India replaces 'India' with ancient name 'Bharat' in dinner invitation to G20 guest
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has replaced the name "India" with the Sanskrit word "Bharat" in dinner invitations sent to guests attending this week's Group of 20 summit. The move reflects Modi's Hindu nationalist party's efforts to eliminate what it sees as colonial-era names. The opposition parties in India announced a new alliance called INDIA in July, and politics over India versus Bharat has gained ground since then. Modi's government has been pushing for the use of Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language, and the move to replace "India" with "Bharat" is seen as part of this nationalist push.
